Making the decision to go to therapy is not an easy one. It requires you to bare yourself emotionally and allow yourself to expose your vulnerabilities. A very scary thing indeed! Yet it is exactly that stripping away of the veneers and layers that we wear to cope with everyday situations, which provides us with the opportunity to grow, and the courage to be ourselves.
Psychology is not about advice giving or answering your questions. It is about creating a safe, enabling and facilitative space in which you can find your own answers. Sometimes our minds becomes too full with competing ideas or emotions and we just need someone to help us see things from a different perspective. That is where we, as psychologists, play a role in your life. So do not be afraid to take that step, it may be the first step to a meaningful, authentic existence.
